a Welsh place!! 18.11.05

We have been for the past few days in Welsh Patagonia driving through the beautiful valley along the river Chubut. Yesterday (Thursday 17th November) we went to the small town of Dolavon, we passed a small museum on the way into town next to a school, it was a lovely little place with lots of things that the welsh people had taken with them, which of course made it all look very British; although some of the stuff was early americian. There was even a very large church organ, how did they bring that? The people were so brave - I would have left the organ at the first hill!! anyway that is not my story. We all enjoyed the museum, I then used their facilities, we never miss the opportunity ;) When I came out all was very quiet, the others had gone back to the trucks. BUT when I got to the front door it was locked!! bang! bang ! bang ! on the glass no one could hear me, I could see Janet speaking on the CB I guess she was saying are you ready Womble, NO I shouted ofcourse she could not hear me. I kept banging, Janet kept calling me on the CB. Norman, who thought I was behind him, had driven off, then realized I was not there and came back. 88| I knew they would not drive off without me, I just wondered how long before they went to look in my truck to find me not there :!: Then Janet looked around a couple of times, I waved liked mad, then suddenly her face burst into laughter, she had seen me frantically waving. Peter then came over with a bunch of school children all of whom tried the door, then some boys showed me a window at the back I could open, I thought I should wait for some one to come with a key! Janet had gone off laughing to find the key lady. Who of course was upset at locking me in. BUT everyone was laughing so much I dont think she was too upset You can imagine how funny the kids thought it. Peter did sing "Oh dear what can the matter be, one old lady locked in the lavatory..." :DD

We drove off for lunch in the centre of town, parking at the side of the very old (not sure of date) wooden water mills, had a lovely lunch time, went to a very old hotel/bar for a drink, the very small elderly guy serving was an x jockey we meet so many wonderful people

In the afternoon we went to Gaiman (Welsh settlement) looked at all the old buildings - very welsh!! then had afternoon tea in a very famous tea house. Princess Diana had been there 88| there were photos of her everywhere - the whole place was very OTT, but a wonderful experience, our tea cosy was bright bright pink - very Barbara Cartland. Tea was awesome we all left stuffed!!

We are today in Trelew another welsh settlement town, interesting but a bit too touristy for my taste. Our next stop I hope is the Valdes Penninsular
