Ushuaia at Last!! 5.1.06

Hi from John and Olwyn in USHUAIA

We are all based at the excellent Camping La Pista Del Andino where Fernando and his staff look after us in a manner par excelleñce.

Norman and Barbara are away on a 10 day Antarctic cruise and the rest of us are going out on shorter local sightseeing forays, attending to vehicle needs and so on.

Olwyn is enjoying birdwatching again with fellow enthusiast Les. It´s
shirtsleeves weather here today, which has come as a surprise to me, as the Summer temperatures are generally not much above those of Winter in the UK.

Olwyn will send her wheelchair rolling down the hill back to the orthopaedic hire shop soon, but will keep her crutches for a while as she puts her foot down on 2nd Jan. and learns to walk again. In our continuing efforts to singlehandedly maintain the finances of the medical services of Brazil and Argentina, I had a hernia op last week, so we are both hoping for a bright new healthful period of travel in 2006.

We are by no means downhearted and are enjoying ourselves - perhaps logically more so than the kind volunteers (i.e. everyone) in the Group who for some days even emptied our toilet cassette and grey water for us - what could be more noble and giving than that!!?? Not to mention the meals they have cooked and everything else they´ve done.

In a few days we´re all off from here up to the lakes and glaciers of Chile. On 19th January we will put the motorhomes aboard a ferry at Puerto Natales and travel up to Puerto Montt.

From OJ and everyone in the Group......

HAPPY NEW YEAR
