News from Chile...18.1.06

Well here we are waiting for the boat at Puerto Natales to sail up the Chilian Fjordes to Puerto Montt and to meet my lovely middle daughter with my beautiful baby grandaughter :D but of course you may already know that.

We have spent the past week in the national park Torries del Paine which has been stunningly beautiful, peaceful and very enjoyable. we have again seen Condors as we have everywhere. We have even seen them on the nest AND with babies all of which we have been able to see without the binoculars. We drove down some amazing valleys which actually went nowhere 88| just to a Farm miles from anywhere. We had lunch with incredible views and parked up for the night at the side of beautiful lakes with 1st class views of the Towers!! We had a lovely time.

A Rippio road is a dirt road with holes, ruts, dips and a corrugated effect, lots of stones big and small, loads and loads of dust which gets everywhere and they are awful to drive on. Rattle, rattle goes everything; anything left out ends up on the floor. I put most of my stuff that lives 'out' in the bed under the duvet :!: leave a cupboard open if you dare!!! even my loo walks out of its cupboard :D

We are now back in Puerto Natales meeting up with old friends Mary and Carl, they hail from Canada and travelled with us to China in 2002. They met up with us yesterday afternoon, what a surprise!! We had a wonderful evening, it was warm enough to sit out and there were plenty of stories to share with drink and nibbles.

next time we speak Jack will be here :DD (Jack being No. 2 Daughter who flew out to Chile yesterday with Lovely No. 2 Granddaughter also known as Lovely Niece elsewhere in the blogsphere)
