BA - safe and sound 9.8.05

We are on a camp site on the outskirts of Buenos Aeries. Which is amazing in its self. I still cannot believe i'm here. the boat trip was awesome; It will be up there among the best things I have done. I have alot written about it on my lap top but I need Olwyn to show me how to get it onto a computer in the cafe. so that will have to wait!!

We arrived in BA around 10am. I was unsure if I was excited, sick, scared or worried, all emotions mixed in together. We did our 'usual' and hung out around the captains office until the customs guy asked for us to go in. This was all very straight forward apart from the fact that he has filled our carnet in wrong (i assume she means the RAC guy?)!! We will face that when we leave.

When we went to the garage/hold my truck would not start I had to be jumped, this didn't take long and soon I am outside on the dock. The customs guy had said we could drive straight out, but a little 'jobs worth' put us in the queue with all the lorries. I got the others to get the paper work and we went to the gate to see if we could get out but, no one really knew what to do with us so kept saying daft things like MONDAY!!!! eventually one guy took us on a walk into the customs shed and found a guy who could speak english. 'No' he said 'you do not need to be here just come to the gate the customs will look at you then you go'! that seemed to be very straight forward to me. But no! The little 'jobs worth' made us wait again whilst he went and found some one else who spoke english who said exactly the same as the 1st guy.!!!!

So off we went into the wonders of BA. by this time it was raining very
hard, there were lorries front, left, right and back!! some how we all
stayed together - the young french couple we had met on the boat were
following us. I got stopped by the police but they could not understand me so sent me on my way phew!! the others had stopped as well so I had not lost them.

After the first 'Uee' (u-turn)of the trip and a couple of mistakes we
drive through what has to be described as DOWN TOWN BA and arrive at the campsite. the guy shows us where we can park. Peter and Janet are nearly out of fuel and there is a gas station next door so off we go before we park up. I was in front turned off the engine and then could not turn it back on again!!! Peter and Janet came around the other side of the pump to fill up whilst I was waiting for help, (the manager of the fuel station had gone for help for me). I'm chatting to janet, she checks the fuel gauge and said 'he has still only put 3/4 in'. So passed the message on 'Peter, Janet wants more fuel' so P starts filling up again, then up goes a shout, there is diesel all over the forecourt  !! There we were blocking the whole fuel station.

Back comes help, but, the chap could not help either of us! Peters fuel line has come apart. The manager then goes to the campsite and Rudi, who seems to run the site, came back in his tractor and gave me a tow!!! phew! the garage manager WAS pleased. Rudi got me help the next morning, one of my brand new battries was dead!! he got me a new one.... But there is more tomorrow
